Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Is the Best Dressed Player in the NBA

I wrote an article a few months ago about NBA players and their impact on the world of fashion but I left out one important name, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. He is hands down one of the best-dressed players since entering the NBA. It’s clear that while Shai may be a rising star on the court, his second passion is definitely fashion and design.

When the NBA Shutdown last season due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander found himself with plenty of extra time on his hands. In his interview with GQ, he spoke about what he did to pass the time

Obviously fashion is a big part of what I love, a big passion of mine. With the season in quarantine getting in the way of that, I just tried to keep the momentum a little bit. It gives people something to do and something to look forward to. Everybody’s at home doing nothing and I know when I’m at home doing nothing, I’m on social media. So I figured it’d catch a little bit of buzz.

What Set’s Shai Apart From Other Players

Many star players have connections and sponsorships that allow them to gain access to some of the most limited shoes and clothing that regular people pay thousands to acquire. In the NBA the best dressed are those who take Shai Gilgeous-Alexander spoke about that in his GQ feature last year and the outfits he has put together show he is a man of his word.

In my rookie year, I was wearing more known brands: name brands, higher-end brands. This year, I’ve tried to be a little bit different. Like I said before, everyone at this level can get the new Louis Vuitton piece or the new Gucci piece. I’ve tried to shop in stores that have brands that aren’t known or pieces of clothing that aren’t as easy to find.

Former Oklahoma City Thunder star guard Russell Westbrook is well known for this exact reason and Shai is following in his footsteps. Shai is only three years in what appears to be a long career and has already established himself as one of the best dressed.

Shai will continue to get better on the court and along with the fame that comes from being one of the best players in the NBA. He is looking towards a future in making an impact in the fashion world by building his own brand. Many NBA players have built brands outside of the game of basketball and Shai is on track to be another that has accomplished that feat.
