Rumors have circulated regarding Manchester United’s interest in Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon, according to Spanish newspapers. Reguilon, who spent last season on loan at Sevilla, is seen as the answer to United’s problems at left-back, and Madrid could be willing to sell as long as the transfer includes an option to repurchase him in a few years.

Reguilon is the third choice left-back behind Ferland Mendy and Marcelo at Madrid. However, with Marcelo north of thirty and Reguilon still only 23-years-old the Spanish champions want to have the buyback option as a way of replacing the Brazilian international in future years. United is rumored not to want this included in the contract.

Juventus, Napoli, and Tottenham are also said to be interested in the left-back. Still, it’s rumored Sergio Reguilon would prefer either a move to Manchester, where he believes he could make the starting eleven or another loan at Sevilla where he was a part of the team that beat Inter Milan 3-2 in the Europa League Final.

According to the reports, Madrid is looking for between £25-30 million with a guaranteed buyback option included despite Zidane having no plans to include Reguilon in his first team for the upcoming season. The Madrid born player has made only 14 first-team appearances for his hometown team and has gained much of his experience from loans with Logrones in Spain’s second division and Sevilla.

The move could spell the end for Luke Shaw at Old Trafford. Shaw’s tenure includes consistent injuries and loss of form. At one point last season, he had lost his place in the first team to academy graduate Brandon Williams.
