Sebastian Aho just signed a lucrative extension to stay in Carolina. The man known as Fishy is fired up for the upcoming season. The Hurricanes top line center thinks the 2023-24 iteration of the team is Carolina’s best team on paper they have ever assembled.
“To me, this is the best team on paper that we ever had,” Aho said Wednesday. “I think we have a really capable team in many ways, and obviously that’s one of the reasons why it was an easy decision for me (to sign) since (general manager) Don (Waddell) and (owner) Tom (Dundon) and those guys, they’re building a really good team.
“As a player, all you can ask, really, from the team (is) you have a chance to win, and we definitely have a chance to be the best team in the league. I’m really excited for the next year.”
Aho should be fired up about the upcoming season because he’s probably right. The blue line Carolina will sport next year is going to be ridiculous. This is a team that just made the Conference Finals and just added Dmitry Orlov, Michael Bunting, and Tony DeAngelo. The only thing they lost from the team last year is that injury prone bum Max Pacioretty who is a total negative anyway.
Carolina should be really good heading into the 2023-24 NHL Season. They may need to add a goal scoring winger to help Fishy out. That’s really the only piece they are missing.
