Sean McDermott is ‘very concerned’ that Stefon Diggs isn’t at minicamp
OTA’s have now ended for all NFL teams, meaning we now get to the point in the offseason where teams meet for their minicamps. But while OTA’s are voluntary, minicamps are not, with attendance being mandatory. Something that seemingly hasn’t gotten through to Bills veteran receiver Stefon Diggs, which apparently has head coach Sean McDermott quite concerned.
Bills' HC Sean McDermott told reporters today that he is "very concerned" that WR Stefon Diggs is not at Buffalo's mandatory minicamp today.

Honestly, I don’t really know what to make of this. I mean it’s not every day you hear a head coach express concerns of this level about a player of the caliber of Diggs. It would make more sense if there was some contract dispute, but Diggs is signed until 2027 with a potential opt-out after next season.
So obviously contracts/money would nothing to do with this. The other interesting thing is the conflicting reports on this situation. Because Ian Rappaport has reported that Diggs was present yesterday and today but left prior to practice.
It seems, Diggs was there yesterday and there this morning. He left prior to the start of practice.

Truth be told, I have no idea what’s going on. It wouldn’t make sense for McDermott to lie at all and cast Diggs in a bad light. Would just be bad for team chemistry and create turmoil in the locker room, forcing me to believe that there is some truth to this statement.
So who knows what the real truth is, but in my opinion it’s not a big deal either way. If Diggs has missed a few days of minicamp, then the Bills’ world won’t end. He and Josh Allen have a clear connection and missing a few days of minicamp won’t change that.
I think Sean McDermott just needs to calm down a little and is blowing this out of proportion. Again, even if it’s true, it didn’t seem like something you needed to reveal to the world. We all know that Diggs has a shall we say delicate personality, so I can’t imagine he will hear this and be happy.
I’m sure Diggs will be back at camp within the next few days and everyone will forget about it. But hey, it’s a slow news day for the NFL so naturally this will get blow way out of proportion. I, on the other hand, will not be making a mountain of a molehill with this information.
Diggs will be back and the Bills offense will be one of the best in the league in 2023. Diggs and Allen will continue to be one of the best duos in the league and hopefully, it will be enough to get the Bills over the hump.
Someone just tell McDermott to calm down, it doesn’t do any good to start panicking by throwing your players under the bus. As we’ve seen in the past, if you lose the locker room, you lose the team and your job shortly after.
