We know who is going to replace Suzy Kolber as the host of Monday Night Football. They’re just going to have to give Scott Van Pelt three extra cups of coffee to do it. SVP already hosted the late-night SportsCenter. His role will only grow as we head into football season.
It is being reported that SVP will be the new host of Monday Night Football Countdown on ESPN. SVP beat out Laura Rutledge for the position. Richard Deitsch of The Athletic was the first to report the news.
Scott Van Pelt will be getting the Monday Night Football Countdown job, via multiple sources.

As @AndrewMarchand reported: It was he and Laura Rutledge who were up for it but I'm told that decision has been made and all parties know.
It's Van Pelt.
Kolber isn’t the only one that has been fired as part of the ESPN shakeup. Steve Young was also part of that Monday Night set and he has also been let go. Don’t expect Matt Hasselbeck on the set either after ESPN parted ways with the former long time quarterback. At this time it remains very unclear on who will join SVP as part of the set.
The actual broadcast team has been taken care of. Joe Buck and Troy Aikman are your Monday Night team. The Manningcast should be back as well. The only thing that’s clear is that Scott Van Pelt is going to be working some serious overtime hours on Mondays. Is he really going to keep hosting SportsCenter after the Monday Night Football games on ESPN? I hope the guy at least got a raise for taking on extra responsibilities.
The choice by ESPN is a safe one. Fans kinda know what they’re getting out of SVP at this point. He won’t screw things up.
