Gus Malzahn quit on UCF to become the offensive coordinator at Florida State. UCF is bringing back a familiar face to try to revitalize the program. Scott Frost is so back. The reunion tour is on. After a failed tenure at Nebraska, Frost is back at the place he first came to prominence at. Frost is the new head coach at the University of Central Florida.
Matt Murschel of the Orlando Sentinel was the first to report the news. You can click the link if you want to. I’d just advise you not to since it’s behind a paywall. I’m just required to state the source out of journalistic integrity while also reminding you that we here at Vendetta Sports Media do not support sites that do business behind a paywall while restricting access to you good people who work hard for a living.
Frost is most noted for being the coach who took UCF to a 13-0 record in 2017. Of course, the playoff was much different format wise than it is now. UCF would have had a chance to play for a National Championship back now. Something that wasn’t the case back then.
Frost, 49, went 19-7 during his first tenure at UCF. It’s a hell of a lot better than the 16-30 mark at Nebraska. However, it’s worth noting that he won’t have Josh Heupal with him who was his offensive coordinator during the good years at UCF. It’s very possible the now Tennessee head coach was the true brains of that operation. We’re going to find out if that was the case this go around.
