UCF Will Become The Kings Of The Big 12

UCF

UCF
It’s only a matter of time before UCF becomes the dominant program of the Big 12. Here is why Central Florida is poised to thrive.

UCF Will Become The Kings Of The Big 12

All of this conference realignment stuff makes me sick. It’s all greed, but we don’t really have much control over it. We just get to talk about it. All of the realignment is going to have hidden consequences/rewards. I think one is pretty obvious and it needs to be talked about. UCF is going to become the powerhouse of the Big 12. It’s just a matter of when it happens.

Have you forgotten? Ah, yes. BYU, Cincinnati, and UCF are now in the Big 12. We know more are coming down the pipeline in the future. What matters is post-life after Texas and Oklahoma, UCF is clearly positioned to dominate that conference for the foreseeable future.

It always starts with recruiting. Have you paid attention to the recent recruiting rankings for 2024? Well, UCF already has nine four-star recruits for 2024. They’re also killing every other Big 12 school by a wide margin.

We have to understand that we live in an NIL world. UCF has a lot more resources at its disposal now that they’re getting a bigger check from the Big 12. That AAC money doesn’t quite hit the same. Guess what? UCF can now have more quality players and a lot of good ones are right in their backyard. If UCF can retain more good players in Florida and raise their level of recruiting in the rest of the south, it’s over. They’re going to destroy that conference.

The same is going to be true for the transfer portal. Guess what? When a kid at Bama, Georgia, LSU, etc fails there, guess where they may turn up? It’s going to be more and more of a destination spot for athletes.

Keep in mind, it already has been for coaches. Scott Frost had a lot of success there. Mostly because Josh Heupal was pulling the strings there. Gus Malzahn is the coach there now. He may get away with a lot of gimmicks, but he’s had a lot of success there too. The point is, they haven’t had any problems attracting coaches either. It’s nice weather and you’re right in the middle of a hoard of talented kids.

Just be ready for it. There are going to be unforeseen consequences and rewards with the new conferences. UCF may have been a nothing program before but they’re going to be a powerhouse soon. It’s just a matter of time. You heard it here first.
