Sam Hauser: More Than Just A Shooter?

I think I may have jinxed Sam Hauser. Immediately after posting an article bragging up Hauser, he went right into the tank. I really wanted the Celtics to grab Kevin Huerter, but at least Hauser felt like an okay consolation prize. Just imagine if the Celtics did the right thing and got Huerter…

Hauser hit just 28.6% of his 3s in December and January. The former Virginia product was made a healthy scratch the first time all season in the win over Golden State on the 19th.

With that being said, Jayson Tatum really believes in Hauser’s talent. The Celtics superstar says he knows that Hauser is way more than just a shooter. He’s someone that can help Boston in a multitude of ways.

“He’s so much more than just a shooter, so I really enjoy when he just makes those basketball plays,” Tatum said after the Celtics played the Magic. “I don’t want to box him in as just a catch-and-shoot guy. Sam’s a really, really talented basketball player.”

Hauser, 25, went undrafted in 2021 while playing for Tony Bennett at Virginia. The shooting ability is obviously his best trait. However, he does have some underrated size. At 6-foot-7, he comes with length and has proven to be an adequate defender as well. He just needs to find his shooting form and fast.
