Baseball players use steroids? I never thought I would hear that again (joking). Robinson Cano is the latest victim to go down with a suspension being caught for PED use. Cano will be stuck on the DL for quite a while after he broke his hand getting hit by a pitch. Now Cano is getting even worse news getting popped for steroids.

Hector Gomez of Deportivo Z 101 was the first to report the news.

Cano, 35, probably got the suspension news at the best time considering he can rehab his hand while serving the suspension. It’s hard to see how this was a surprise considering Cano has continued to put up monster numbers as he ages into his late 30’s. Cano has been on a tear in 2018 hitting .287, .385 OBP, and .825 OPS. Cano has never hit below .280 during his Mariners career and really has done his best to try to live up to the monster 10-year contract.

Cano has also been uber durable playing in over 150 games in every season of his big league career. PED’s obviously not only heal your body, but they also help your vision to help your hitting. Cano’s hall of fame candidacy is now up for grabs even considering that he is one of the better power hitting second baseman of all-time. Cano has 305 career home runs since his debut in 2005. That’s 61 more than any other infielder in baseball since that time.

Yankees, Rays, D-Backs Agree To Three-Team Deal; Souza To Arizona, Drury To New York

Seattle has the longest playoff drought in the Major League Baseball since their magical run in the early 2000’s. The AL West with Houston probably puts Seattle on the outskirks of a wildcard birth. Their job becomes even tougher without Cano.

Below is the official statement from Robinson Cano on the news regarding his suspension:
