Rival GM Mocks Cowboys For Jonathan Mingo Trade

Before I begin here, can we just take a moment to pause? I think it’s needed given the fact that scout Trey wins ago. I dare you to read my draft profile on Jonathan Mingo and tell me where I went wrong. It’s absolute nonsense anybody picked Mingo in the second round and once again, I’d like to remind you that Trey produces the best NFL Draft notes on the internet. Heed the warnings or suffer the consequences later.

Getting back on track here… the Cowboys tried to pull off a buy-low move for Mingo. Minus the fact that they actually overpaid and now rival GMs around the league are mocking them.

“I asked a GM of another team his thoughts on the Cowboys trade for Jonathan Mingo. The thoughts were something ‘Talented. A little raw. Comp is too much…like way too much. Basically a net 5th. Probably is most like Tolbert of the guys there.’ The GM goes on to say ‘Just my opinion. Not a bad player but to include a 4th is rich,’” Slater shared Tuesday morning.

“That should’ve been a 6 for 7 pick swap.”

“He’s in yr two of his rookie deal. Has a skill set but raw, hasn’t produced in the league yet,” the anonymous GM said to Slater.

Does Trey Lance Have Any Dynasty Value With The Cowboys?

It’s hard to disagree with whoever the anonymous GM is. However, I’d just like to add one more nugget here before we close things out here.

You know what this trade was, right? It was a repeat of the Trey Lance trade. It’s the same rationale too. Buying low on a player who looks like a bust but thinking they can fix him because they had a high grade on the player in the pre-draft process.

Let’s hope this one turns out better for Dallas than the Lance deal because right now Mingo is a total mess…
