Ricochet Reportedly Leaving the WWE

Ricochet is reportedly leaving the WWE after over six years with the company.

Mike Johnson of PW Insider reported Saturday that Ricochet notified WWE that he will not renew his contract after it is set to expire later this summer. Johnson brought attention to sources in favor of Ricochet’s decision to remove himself from the company, stating they were “giving Ricochet all the credit in the world for betting on himself.”

He was a third-round draft pick on the night one edition of the 2024 WWE draft. The news regarding his departure comes as a surprise to some and a confirmation of long-standing rumors to others.

Reports have also indicated that Ricochet would begin to be written out of storylines in the weeks to follow. WWE quickly appears to be taking action to that plan. The current RAW superstar taped an episode for WWE’s social media program Speed, where he would end his 42-day reign as WWE Speed Champion against Andrade, set to air on June 14.

Current Feud:

Ricochet is currently involved in a feud with recently drafted NXT superstar Bron Breakker. With the reports surrounding Ricochet’s departure, this may set up a storyline to elevate the 26-year-old superstar. Breakker has expressed frustration in recent weeks on Raw from his lack of involvement in the King of the Ring tournament. With a loss over Breakker on last Monday’s edition of Monday Night Raw, this may set up a segment that allows Ricochet to slowly transition out of the company.

Ricochet signed with the WWE back in 2018. Since then, he has had many notable accomplishments in his career. He is a former NXT North American Champion, United States champion, Intercontinental champion, NXT North American Champion, and the inaugural WWE Speed Champion. He is also a Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic winner with Aleister Black.

Before his WWE debut, Ricochet has found much success in other wrestling promotions across the globe. He competed in companies such as New Japan Pro Wrestling, Lucha Underground, Dragon Gate, Dragon Gate USA, and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. With the likelihood of Ricochet becoming a free agent, there’s no telling where the high-flying superstar may end up.
