It appears like Rex Ryan is going to take a hiatus from coaching. According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Ryan is going to be joining ESPN to be a part of their football coverage.
Ryan first appeared on ESPN during Super Bowl week as a sort of audition. Ryan seems to be more than happy with his role on TV.
“The one thing about (being on TV) is that you don’t lose,” Ryan said. “You’ll remember every damn loss. But the wins? You don’t necessarily remember. So, it takes a lot out of you. I’m tired of getting f—ked. Unless it’s a real situation, there’s no sense of getting into it again.”
Ryan was fired this past season during the week 17 season finale. The was a ton of controversy to start the offseason after Bills G.M. Doug Whaley claims he had no idea why Rex Ryan was fired. The Bills have decided to go with another defensive minded coach in Sean McDermott. Rex Ryan may not be done coaching but he might have to settle for a defensive coordinator job if he gets back into coaching.
