The Colorado Avalanche have slowly hit the panic button this offseason. After a potential season-ending injury to captain Gabriel Landeskog and being bounced from last year’s playoffs early, there seems to be struggles in Colorado.
Now, with the health of backup goaltender Pavel Francouz in question, the former Stanley Cup Champions are looking for goaltenders to fill in, according to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff.
#Avs appear to be examining options on the goalie market. Sounds like Pavel Francouz has not completely recovered from his offseason adductor surgery and there is concern he will miss some time.

Francouz made just 16 starts for the Avalanche last season.@DailyFaceoff
Francouz, the four-year NHL veteran, has spent his entire career with the Avalanche. The 33-year-old goaltender has been bombarded with injuries since the start of his NHL career, having not played over 35 games in a season in the entirety of his career.
Francouz is likely to not be ready for the start of the regular season on Oct. 11. The Czechoslovakia goaltender underwent offseason adductor surgery. In doing so, it forced Colorado’s hand into searching for a new goalie if Francouz misses time.
In his most recent season with the Avalanche, Francouz posted his worst statistical year, posting a .915 save percentage along with 2.61 goals against per game; he went 8-7-1 for the Avalanche last year.
The goaltender in front of him on the depth chart, Alexandar Georgiev, has made a big name out of himself in the NHL. Last season, Georgiev posted his best season yet in the NHL. He posted a career-best 2.53 goals against average and matched his career-best save percentage at .918. Not to mention, he won 40 games with Colorado last season, leading the league in total wins for a goaltender.
Although Colorado hasn’t announced any further goaltender signings, more have to be coming in the future. Who should Colorado sign? Let us know in the comments below.
