Nick Foles is set to hit the open market. According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Kansas City is expected to decline Nick Foles’ team option worth $6.4 million for the 2017 season.
Foles joins a market with several teams that are looking for quarterbacks. It’s safe to say that he will probably find a home as a backup this offseason. Certainly, he will probably land a deal for less than the $6.4 KC would have had to pay him.
During limited action in 2016, Foles was actually pretty productive completing 65 percent of his throws. Obviously, any team taking a shot on him will hope they get the 2013 version when he broke out under Chip Kelly’s regime. Moving on from Foles will leave just Alex Smith and Tyler Bray on the roster as quarterback options are concerned. Kansas City is also expected to be a player for Tony Romo’s trade market.
