Ravens Part Ways With Earl Thomas

Earl Thomas has played his last game with the Baltimore Ravens. Thomas will either be traded or released after getting charged with conduct detrimental to the team. Either way, the Ravens will officially move on. Thomas punched teammate Chuck Clark at practice, which prompted the move.

Adam Schefter of ESPN was the first to report the news:

Schefter lists Dallas as the landing spot if Thomas gets released. The Cowboys were players for Jamal Adams so it’s no surprise they are in on Thomas. It should also be mentioned, Thomas said he wanted to play for the Cowboys in the past and attended the University of Texas.

The Ravens wanted to get out of this contract. That’s obviously why they moved on. Thomas will end up cashing in on a one-year deal worth $22 million in Baltimore. Thomas signed a 4-year deal worth $55 million last offseason. We also had the weird story with his brother this offseason about them doing orgies together. The Ravens wanted out.

Let’s be honest about one thing. This is a MASSIVE blow from an on field perspective. Thomas was one of the best safeties in football last year. He was basically so good that he didn’t allow a catch all year. Not a joke. 2018 6th round pick DeShone Elliott will probably replace Thomas on the depth chart.

The good news for the Ravens is their cornerback room is probably the best in the league. It doesn’t get any better than Marlon Humphrey, Marcus Peters, Jimmy Smith, and Tavon Young.

UPDATE: There will be no trade. The Ravens are just straight releasing Thomas. The Ravens announced it themselves:
