It’s hard to believe anybody wants to play for the Sabres right now so when Paul Bissonnette suggested on the latest episode of Spittin Chiclets that Rasmus Dahlin requested a trade… it’s hard to really call bs on the report. However, to Dahlin’s credit, he addressed the rumors and actually did so with some anger behind it.
“I don’t know what he’s talking about,” Dahlin said of the claim from Paul Bissonnette on the Spittin’ Chiclets podcast. “I have never said I want out of here. I’m not happy with where we’re at, I don’t want to lose. We have to get better. I’ve never said I want out of here; I thought that was pretty clear…
“That bugs me, actually. I get pissed off by that. I haven’t even mentioned the word ‘leave’ That’s just how it is.”
On the Daily Faceoff live broadcast today, Frank Seravalli said that Tage Thompson and Rasmus Dahlin are really the two players on the entire team who haven’t pushed to leave. However, the entire team is obviously pretty frustrated and that doesn’t mean things could change if things don’t start moving in the right direction.
The problem is, even if Dahlin wants to move on, he’s pretty trapped. The Sabres captain is signed through the 2031-32 season at a cap hit of $11 million after signing an extension back in 2023.
Dahlin, 24, is in his seventh season with the Sabres and the team has never made the playoffs during that period of time. If that doesn’t change soon, the trade request very well could become a reality.
