Aidan O’Connell is NOT the quarterback of the future in Las Vegas. That much is clear after his trial run as a rookie. Nothing against O’Connell, he just has the mobility of a statue and you need better than that in the modern NFL. With the Raiders poised to select a quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Silver and Black have a name in mind. It sure sounds like in a perfect world the Raiders want Jayden Daniels.
Jeremy Fowler at ESPN dropped a report that the Raiders are really hot and bothered to land the LSU quarterback. Don’t click the link below it’s behind a paywall. I got you on the information you need.
“The Las Vegas Raiders (No. 13) might be a team to watch [for Jayden Daniels],” Fowler reported in an ESPN insider piece. “New coach Antonio Pierce is a big fan of Daniels from their days together at Arizona State, and word is that Pierce evaluated offensive coordinators with the loose possibility of Daniels in mind.”
Daniels, 23, started out his college career at Arizona State under Herm Edwards. Pierce was part of that staff with the Sun Devils. It’s pretty easy to connect the dots here. Pierce likely is a fan of Daniels.
After a Heisman Trophy winning season, a lot of teams are going to be interested in Daniels. The problem is the Raiders are picking 13 and it feels almost impossible they can move up high enough to get their guy. The trade package to move up that high is going to be astronomical.
Winning those games at the end of the year may really come back to haunt the Raiders. Talk about a challenge trying to get your guy picking that low in the draft. Good luck because I have no idea how they pull this off.
