Is Pro Football Focus Forced To Hire Me (Trey Daubert) As A Consultant After Their Egregious Analysis On Baker Mayfield?

Pro Football Focus are the fake tough guys of the internet. They call everyone out and use their numbers to do so. Nobody takes them seriously but it’s fine. The issue is half of their shit never makes any sense. The question has always been, how legitimate is their actual data? Especially when it comes to scouting at the collegiate level. Was there really a way to carve out data so teams would miss less in the draft? Baker Mayfield was their golden goose. Mayfield was the highest rated quarterback in their system. Not once, but twice. Mayfield was PFF’s highest rated quarterback ever. He crushed their system. Pro Football Focus’ reputation is riding on the career of Baker Mayfield. The 2019-2020 NFL season has proven they’re fools. Mayfield has been arguably the worst quarterback in football this season. Pro Football Focus is a joke!

PFF will try to tell you that their data is the best. The problem is their golden goose stinks! Mayfield was the highest graded collegiate quarterback ever in their system. Again, not once, but twice. Mayfield has two separate seasons where he is better than every other quarterback in the country since their company started tracking data. Mayfield was about as can’t miss as it gets according to their algorithm. What we are learning is once again, the analytics nerds know absolutely nothing. How about the line “higher than Mariota” hahahahaha. Is that supposed to be a compliment?

PFF’s college grading system has become a flat out joke. Not only is it a joke, it’s costing people their jobs. The Cleveland Browns went all in on analytics with Sashi Brown. Cleveland went all in on this same sort of approach PFF uses. Cleveland had the 2nd overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. The analytics (PFF) told them to pass on Carson Wentz. The Eagles obviously took advantage of their idiocracy and Wentz has turned into a bonafide superstar. Instead, the analytics led them to Draft Cody Kessler in 2016 in what will go down as one of the most laughable decisions of all-time. A person with a brain (me) told you Wentz was going to be amazing. PFF told you Cody Kessler had a higher grade. MORONS.

Let’s move to 2017. The Cleveland Browns found themselves with the 12th pick in the Draft. Deshaun Watson was staring them in the face. The Browns passed. Why? The analytics told them to. The Analytics have never been high on Watson. They still aren’t for some god unknown reason. The Texans took advantage and Watson has become a superstar. Person with a brain who actually knows how to scout (me) told you Watson was the best quarterback in the class (Watson is a star. Mahomes might be better but it’s damn close). The analytics told the Browns to pass. They took DeShone Kizer instead. A quarterback that his own college coach (Brian Kelly) didn’t even like.

The Browns passed on Carson Wentz. The Browns passed on Deshaun Watson. They weren’t good enough for them. Guess who was? 6-foot tall, two time walk on, Baker Mayfield. What a scam! Mayfield has never been close to Wentz or Watson in terms of talent. Only an absolute idiot would choose Mayfield over Watson and or Wentz. Don’t worry, PFF did proving their analytics are nothing more than garbage.

Baker Mayfield hasn’t just been bad this year. He’s arguably the worst quarterback in the NFL. Since being named the Browns starting quarterback, Baker leads the NFL in interceptions. Nick Bosa is sticking him in his back pocket and has become a target for opposing teams. Mayfield currently has the lowest QBR (33.4) of any quarterback who has started 4 games this year. There are two quarterbacks ever that have thrown an interception in each game without multiple touchdown passes over the course of the first 5 games of the season. Mayfield and Geno Smith. OUCH. There are two quarterbacks this season who have attempted at least 20 passes in each of the first 5 weeks but have not recorded 16 fantasy points in any week in standard leagues. Mayfield and Derek Carr. Since getting handed the starting job, Mayfield has more interceptions than any other quarterback. Through 5 games of the 2019-2020 season, Mayfield is completing 56 percent with a 4-8 TD to INT Ratio. If only there was someone out there that knew this was coming? Oh shit, I did!

Prior to the 2018 NFL Draft, I called Mayfield a 4th round prospect. I compared him to Case Keenum. You can read my Senior Bowl notes too. If you watched him there, it was impossible to come away impressed. That’s EXACTLY what he looks like so far this year. A 4th round talent. The analytics can say whatever they want. There were too many obvious red flags to ignore. Short, average arm strength, struggles to make tight window throws, relied on Lincoln Riley’s gimmicks, Is a one read quarterback, below average athleticism, bad decision making, Big 12 defenses, and off the field question marks. A person with common sense saw this coming. The problem is I don’t know how this is getting any better. Mayfield is already significantly older than the rest of his draft class. He’s older than Deshaun Watson is and drafted a year later. He’s close to his ceiling.

I don’t want to hear the excuses either. Sure, the offensive line isn’t great. I didn’t hear anyone defending Deshaun Watson who has dealt with way worse offensive lines. The Browns have Nick Chubb, Odell Beckham, and Jarvis Landry. The supporting cast is not the issue. They even have a running back who’s averaging over 5 yards per carry. Nick Chubb is a fucking monster! Mayfield is still playing like ass.

Pro Football Focus is a joke. The funniest part is that they are basically refusing to talk about it. I haven’t seen or heard any recent coverage on how Mayfield stinks. The entire reputation of the company rests on Baker Mayfield. He was their can’t miss quarterback. Imagine being that clueless. Imagine being so ignorant and stupid to say that Watson isn’t even on the same planet as Mayfield. PFF is absolutely pathetic.

This begs a bigger question. Is PFF forced to hire me as a draft consultant? PFF needs my help. They need a director of common sense. I have no interest in working with them full time. I like my site a lot more than their site. Who wouldn’t? They have no dignity or self worth right now anyway. Just once in awhile when they say something outlandish, they need my help. Especially when it comes to the Draft. My track record speaks for itself. I’m now 3-0 the last 3 years against the clueless analytics. PFF needs my help. I can save their company from the current embarrassment they’re facing. “Everyone thought Baker Mayfield was a first round pick”? Well, not me. The guy with a brain thought he was a 4th round talent. That’s exactly what he looks like once the NFL got film on him and had an extended period away from Lincoln Riley.

They need my help. They need my help before it’s too late. They already are going down another bad rabbit hole. Everyone knows that DeAndre Swift is the best running back next year. PFF doesn’t even have him close to the top. Oh, boy. The clueless dopes over at Pro Football Focus need some guidance. They need some common sense. I’m afraid they can never be taken seriously unless they hire me as the consultant of common sense.
