Pork, Porn, and Sex Toys Among Banned Items at the Qatar World Cup

The 2022 FIFA World Cup is just days away and while there have been a lot of issues surrounding the host country of Qatar, the list of banned items includes some interesting objects, according to the New York Post.

One of the most known banned items in Qatar is alcohol which will be allowed three hours before matches and only in designated areas. While alcohol will be served it is likely to just be beer being sold. It is also illegal in Qatar to be publicly drunk which should be interesting considering thousands if not millions of fans from around the world will be making the journey to the Middle Eastern country.

Along similar lines to alcohol, there is no tolerance for drug use in Qatar. Any fans caught with drugs at the 2022 World Cup will face a hefty penalty that could include jail time and deportation.

That now brings us to some of the more bizarre banned items at the Qatar World Cup. Pork products, sex toys, pornography, and religious books are all banned and will not be allowed to be brought into Qatar.

No pork is a very sad thing for fans of bacon.

Anyone caught with those items could be jailed or deported. But pork, porn, and sex toys are not the only things that can get you jailed.

Journalists beware. According to the UK foreign travel advice, there is very little tolerance for photography and videography in Qatar.

The guidelines explained that journalists need to be approved by the Qatar News Agency to be allowed to record anything. Also, any slander of Qatar could result in, you guessed it, jail time or deportation.

There are also strict rules against swearing and any indecency in Qatar. People who get caught doing those will also be jailed or deported.

Hmm. What can you actually do or say in Qatar? By the look of things not much. Just follow Qatar’s rules and try not to be arrested for what could be one of millions of things.

Maybe this is why former FIFA president Sepp Blatter called the Qatar World Cup a mistake

Nonetheless, it should be an exciting tournament on the field despite all of the issues and rules surrounding Qatar.
