Player Props to Target for the 2022 NFL Season: Week 9

Week 9 of the NFL season is upon us, and we have been on a roll the past three weeks with our plays. Last week, we took the brooms out, swept the week going 5-0, and pushed our three-week record to 13-2. Jaylen Waddle, D.J. Moore, Travis Etienne, DeAndre Hopkins, and my smash play of the week with Derrick Henry, all hit their projections. We continue to push forward to add to our three-week record as we are on a roll. So that being said, let’s take a look at the best player props for Week 9 of the NFL season.

Justin Fields OVER 49.5 Rushing Yards vs. MIA

The Chicago Bears have been a complete mess so far this season. With the offensive line still in shambles and a terrible wide receiver room, Justin Fields has had all season to show us what he can do with his legs. In his last five games, Fields has rushed over 50 yards four times, with one of those games only missing by three yards. This week, Chicago will be up against Miami, who have seen two mobile quarterbacks this season. Following Week 2’s 119-yard rushing performance by Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen ran for 47 yards against the Dolphins. With Miami having a good pass rush, especially with adding in Bradley Chubb, Fields should have plenty of opportunities to scramble and pick up some yards this week.

Justin Herbert OVER Passing Yards 275.6 @ ATL

Once again, we are going to find a play against this terrible Atlanta Falcons defense. Last week it was Moore, and earlier this season it was Jimmy Garoppolo. Both of those plays hit with ease, so if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Justin Herbert will be going into the weekend without both Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, which might cause some hesitation. Even despite this, this play still has great potential. So far this season, Atlanta has allowed 307 yards per game, which ranks dead last in the league. Even with that high number, Atlanta has been worse in recent weeks. In the Falcons’ past four games, they’ve allowed an average of 361 passing yards to Garoppolo, Tom Brady, Joe Burrow, and P.J. Walker. Not good. This weekend, Herbert should continue the trend, even without his top two targets, and smash his projection.

Geno Smith UNDER 250.5 Passing Yards @ ARI

Throughout the past three weeks, Geno Smith has fallen back down to Earth. After his insane two-week stretch in Weeks 3 and 4, Smith hasn’t seen the amount of production since. Over the past three games, Smith has struggled, only averaging 206 passing yards in those games. One of those games was against Arizona and only managed to throw for 197 passing yards.

Now, Smith faces Arizona once again, whose defense has been better over recent weeks. In Arizona’s past four games, only once were they just torched through the air. However, if you exclude that one bad game, in the other three games the Cardinals have only allowed 222 yards through the air. I hate playing the under, especially with player props, however between Geno’s recent downfall and the Cardinals figuring it out on defense, this play has extremely great value for Week 9.

Justin Jefferson OVER 90.5 Receiving Yards @ WAS

Many expected Justin Jefferson to be a top receiver this year in the NFL. So far this season, Jefferson has met those expectations and has helped Minnesota to a 6-1 record. Jefferson has seen plenty of balls thrown his way this season, including 10 targets per game in the past four weeks. In those four games, Jefferson is casually averaging 126 yards per game.

This week should be no exception against Washington. Even with the Commanders boasting the ninth-best pass defense in passing yards allowed in their past three games, Jefferson still seems like a great play this week. Throughout seven games this season, Jefferson has smashed this prop total of five times. Vegas is expecting a close game between the Vikings and the Commanders with Minnesota favored by three points. If this turns out to be a close game, expect Jefferson to receive plenty of targets to hit this yard total this week.

Aaron Jones OVER 67.5 Rushing Yards @ DET

Aaron Jones gets a favorable matchup here against a Detroit Lions defense that hasn’t been the best this year. Jones has been the number one back for Green Bay, out snapping AJ Dillon around a 2:1 ratio in carries. Detroit has the third-worst run defense this year, allowing 155 yards per game with also allowing teams to run the ball almost 30 times per game against them this season. Throughout his previous games against Detroit, Jones has usually seen great production. With averaging 101 rushing yards on 18 carries per game, Jones usually plays well against the Packers NFC North foe. Jones should feast against the Lions this weekend, making him a great play with what his player prop total is set at for Week 9.

Hopefully we can continue to build on our recent success this week. You could either tail these plays at your own risk, mix and match, or completely fade the plays of the week. However, these plays all have great value as we try to sweep once again. Check back next week as we see how we did with our Week 9 player props, and also look at the best props for the Week 10 slate.
