Player Props to Target for the 2022 NFL Season: Week 8

Player Props to Target for the 2022 NFL Season: Week 8

We are nearing the halfway point of the NFL season with Week 8 already here. We have seen an incredible two-week stretch in terms of our player props. Last week we went 4-1 once again, making the player props 8-2 in the past two weeks. Nick Chubb, Josh Jacobs, Ryan Tannehill, and George Pickens hit their projection while CeeDee Lamb came up two yards shy of us sweeping the week. With that being said, let’s look at some of the best player props for Week 8 of the NFL season.

Jaylen Waddle OVER 65.5 Receiving Yards @ DET

We find amazing value here with Jaylen Waddle and his receiving yards this week. So far this season, Waddle has only been held under this number twice. In those two games, Waddle didn’t see Tua Tagovailoa play four quarters in those games. The Dolphins get a nice matchup against a Detroit defense that has been scorched through the air this year. In addition to giving up 250 yards through the air this season, the Lions struggle at home even more. Consequently, Detroit has given up the fourth most yards through the air with 289 yards per game when they play at home. Miami should have a field day this upcoming week, and Waddle should be one of the players who benefits the most from Detroit’s defense.

DJ Moore OVER 58.5 Receiving Yards @ ATL

The Carolina Panthers have been a mess from the start of the season this year. Now with their head coach fired, star player, Chrisitan McCaffrey traded, and horrendous quarterback play, they get a nice matchup against the Falcons this week. Recently inserted quarterback PJ Walker targeted DJ Moore 10 times last week. There have been only two times Moore has reached this number this year, which might cause some people to question it. However, Moore faces an Atlanta Falcons defense that has allowed 300 passing yards per game and 369 yards in the last three games. With cornerback AJ Terrell dealing with an injury, Moore should see plenty of targets come his way. This is one of the riskier plays for the player props for Week 8, however, if Moore gets the targets expected, he should hit this projection this weekend.

Travis Etienne OVER 68.5 Rushing Yards vs DEN (London)

Travis Etienne saw his fellow running back, James Robinson, traded away to the New York Jets this week. With Robinson gone, Etienne is the clear-cut RB1 in Jacksonville from here on out. The second-year running back from Clemson should see his opportunities and amount of touches only increase as the season goes on. Etienne in the past three weeks has rushed for 90 yards per game. With this week’s matchup against the Denver Broncos, we should expect to see Etienne have a big day. Denver has allowed 113 rushing yards this season and allows 4.7 yards per carry. With the number of carries, Etienne should see with Robinson out of the picture, he should hit this number with ease on Sunday morning in London.

Derrick Henry OVER 109.5 Rushing + Receiving Yards @ HOU

This play right here is one of my favorites for the entire weekend. Derrick Henry started the season out slow but has picked up in recent weeks to look like the Derrick Henry we remember. In the past three weeks, Henry has racked up over 100 yards just on the ground alone. When you take into account Henry’s usual two to three receptions per game, this number is way too low. Just with those numbers alone, Henry could potentially hit this number just with rushing yards alone. Adding to that, the Houston defense gave up over 150 combined yards to Josh Jacobs last week. So far this year, Houston’s opponents have run the ball 31 times per game against them. If Henry runs the ball close to that number, I don’t see how he comes up short with this rushing and receiving prop number. This play is my favorite player prop for Week 8.

DeAndre Hopkins OVER 6.5 Receptions @ MIN

DeAndre Hopkins saw his first action of the 2022 NFL season last week after returning from his six-week suspension. Hopkins showed why he is considered one of the best receivers in the NFL with 10 receptions and a 100-yard game in his debut. This week, Arizona faces a Minnesota defense that is the fifth worse in the NFL in terms of pass defense with allowing 272 passing yards per game. It’s clear that Hopkins is Kyler Murray‘s go-to option, and that should remain the case this week as well. Expect Hopkins to receive double digit targets again this week against the Vikings, making this play an option this weekend.

This success we have had in the past two weeks hopefully will continue. You can either tail these plays at your own risk, or pick and chose which ones you like. However, all of these plays have great value. Check back next week to see how we did with our Week 8 player props and also to see our Week 9 plays for next week.
