I recently got my hands on PGA Tour 2K21 and I’ve spent quite a bit of time playing it. Golf video games are making a comeback and 2K games are aiming to take over the market. Today I’ll go over the good, the bad and most importantly if you should buy PGA Tour 2K21.
The Good
The good is that PGA Tour 2K21 feels a lot like golf. This is that every minor detail is the difference between nailing a 300 yard drive down the middle of the fairway and ending up in the water. The game also channels the feeling of golf in that it can be so much fun and also piss you off so bad you’re ready to break something. The amount of customization is amazing. You’re able to customize damn near everything about your character. You can change your clothes, eye colour, facial features and so much more. Players are also able to create their own courses so any courses not already in the game can be made. 2K games has always been great when it comes to customization and this is no exception. Also the in-game currency is easy to acquire without paying so that’s always a big plus for me.
The Bad
There is a very limited number of real courses in the game. While this can be overcome by the ability to make course it is still a negative. The game can also become very pay-to-win. In-game currency is used to buy better clubs which will allow you to hit the ball further. I did say that in-game currency is easy to acquire so this is not a major blemish on the game. Overall not a lot of negatives with gameplay, it’s more micro-transactions and lacking courses.
Should You Buy?
Overall I’d recommend this game. It’s a fun and relaxing game that does a good job of mimicking the feeling of golf. The emotional roller coaster isn’t from the game that 2K has developed but rather what comes from playing golf. If you shank a shot you’re gonna be pissed off on the golf course and playing PGA Tour 2k21. If you hit a beautiful putt for birdie then you’ll be ecstatic. Overall, it’s a great game.
