Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola admits he is obsessed with winning the club its first Champions League title.
This came during a press conference on Friday ahead of City’s clash with Inter Milan.
“It’s a dream, yes.” Guardiola said. “It has to be. To achieve things, you always have to have the correct level of obsession or desire. Obsession is a positive word for the desire to do it, but of course it’s a dream.”

Guardiola has won just about everything since moving to England in 2016. He has won 11 trophies since taking the helm of Manchester City: five Premier League titles, four League Cups and two FA Cups.
However, there is one glaring omission from this incredible trophy cabinet — the UEFA Champions League trophy is nowhere to be found.
Guardiola was brought to Manchester City to win them their first Champions League title. Despite his constant success with City, he has failed to deliver in Europe so far.
He has acknowledged City’s shortcomings in the Champions League and claims that despite his domestic success, only winning the Champions League would cement his legacy at Manchester City.
He did have a chance to finally get over the hump in 2021 when City reached its first-ever Champions League final. Although his side was the favorite, they fell 1-0 to Chelsea.
Guardiola claims that his team now is different than the 2021 team and is ready to do what that team was incapable of.
“It’s a different game, different players,” Guardiola said. “I’m pretty sure what we planned was to have success and a good game against Chelsea. It didn’t work, people say decisions were wrong, but we have a plan and an idea.

If Guardiola is going to finally fulfill his dream and win the Champions League with City, you would figure it has to be this year. His team has already won the Premier League and the FA Cup. He has Erling Haaland and an incredibly gifted supporting cast. Everything looks like it is in place for Guardiola’s dream to finally happen.
However, Inter Milan is a quality side with history in the Champions League. If they play well, there is a possibility that they could catch Manchester City sleeping.
Guardiola acknowledged this and is calling on his side to be focused and perform on the day.
“Inter Milan is bigger than us, in terms of history in this competition, and we are favourites to win the game, but what’s important is that, at 10 p.m. Istanbul time, we do the best performance possible and that can make the difference,” Guardiola said.
