I don’t care if Giannis Antetokounmpo stays or goes; the trade for Jrue Holiday (full trade details here with this link) will be etched in stone as one of the worst decisions in the history of the Milwaukee Bucks franchise. This trade the Bucks just make reeks of desperation and low self-esteem.
I’m not Giannis, maybe this makes him happy enough to stay. Personally, that’s now how I would feel. To me, this would push me out the door. My organization is so paranoid that they would send three first round picks and two pick swaps to make a marginal upgrade? My organization gave up an Anthony Davis package for Holiday. That’s as sad and pathetic as it gets.
What are we doing here? Who does Milwaukee think Jrue Holiday is? We’re talking about a 1x All-Star who’s in his 30’s on an expiring contract. Holiday is an LA native. You think he’s a lock to just stay with the Bucks? This is as insane as it gets.
Are we going to pretend Holiday is significantly better than Eric Bledsoe? That’s a flat out lie if you say otherwise. Both players are really good defenders. Statistically, they’re really not that far off.
Holiday: 19.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 6.7 assists, 45.5%, 35.3% from 3
Bledsoe: 14.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 47.5%, 34.4% from 3
Honestly, how much better is Holiday than Bledsoe. Here’s a better question; is Holiday even better than Malcolm Brogdon who they could have just kept as a restricted free agent? Holiday realistically might be the third best player out of that trio.
There’s no rational way to spin this trade. How do you not match the Brogdon contract? How is giving up all that draft capital a better alternative than just keeping Brogdon? WHO DOES MILWAUKEE THINK HOLIDAY IS????
Good luck, Milwaukee. Look, maybe Giannis grows another foot taller and learns karate or something. I don’t know. Maybe he wins this title by himself. I’m not going to say it’s impossible. However, that doesn’t change the truth. You can’t rationalize this Holiday trade. This is as bad as bad gets.
