The New Orleans Pelicans have arguably the most exciting young core in the NBA. You’re going to get places with Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson alone. I’m excited to see the way two guys grow together. I don’t have a clue what Lonzo Ball is but he’s interesting? When you watch New Orleans, Lonzo is a fascinating lob guy for Williamson. Then there’s Jrue Holiday? The Pelicans need to trade Holiday before it’s too late.

Maybe I’m just watching the wrong games. Every time I watch New Orleans, Jrue Holiday stinks. Holiday has had just one 20 point game since January. Overall, Holiday isn’t having a bad year. 19.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 6.8 assists. An effective field goal percentage of 50.4 isn’t too shabby either. My eyes don’t tell me that’s the case. My eyes tell me Holiday isn’t impacting the game.

Either way, Holiday doesn’t fit the timeline. That’s the most important part. Zion is 19. Ingram is 22. Holiday is 29 and a free agent after next season. By the time Zion and Ingram reach their primes, Holiday will be well past it. What’s the point? Shouldn’t New Orleans try to find that third guy to fit that timeline?

Holiday is in his prime right now. It’s time to move him. The alternative is to keep Jrue and sign him to an extension where he ages poorly and never ends up good enough to be the 3rd guy on a title team. That’s not an alternative that makes any sense. New Orleans needs to trade Jrue Holiday before it’s too late.
