With two Super Bowls and MVP trophies under his belt, Patrick Mahomes has given high praise to his coach Andy Reid, saying he is simply the best.
Mahomes originally claimed the throne of the Chiefs kingdom back in 2018, when he officially became the starting QB. Ever since then, he has been the most electrifying QB in the NFL, but not without any help. Head Coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, Andy Reid, has been one of the main factors of Mahomes’ success in his young 27-year-old career.
Reid’s ability to draw up plays that no defense could be ready for and play to Mahomes’s strengths is what makes him a great coach. Not to mention, he is one of the funniest coaches out there.

“He’s meant the world to me, He’s just the best,” Mahomes told Rob Maaddi on the AP Pro Football Podcast. “He’s the best coach, obviously, one of the best coaches of all time, but he’s just one of the best people of all time, He’s learned how to get the most out of me every day. He doesn’t let me be satisfied with where I’m at. He teaches me a ton.
“Not only the quarterback position, but how to be a leader and how to be a great dad and how to be a great husband. He lets me be who I am every single day. I think if I’d have went to some other places, I would’ve had to learn how to play the quarterback position a different way, and he just lets me play the quarterback position the way that I want to play it. I think that’s what’s made me such a different type of quarterback in this league.”
Ever since he became a starter, Mahomes hasn’t looked back. The former Texas Tech quarterback has thrown for almost 200 passing touchdowns in just five full seasons with the Chiefs–averaging out to just under 40 passing touchdowns per season. Not only does Mahomes sling the pigskin, but he takes care of it too. In 80 games played in his career, Mahomes has only thrown 49 interceptions.
Trading up to draft Patrick Mahomes in the 2017 NFL draft might have been the best decision in franchise history. Pairing one of the NFL’s greatest talents with one of the best coaches of all time is a no-brainer for Kansas City, and boy did it pay off.
Mahomes and Reid will continue to flourish together in Kansas City as the duo looks like they aren’t splitting up anytime soon. Currently, Andy Reid’s contract expires after the 2025 season, but let’s be honest, he likely won’t be retiring just yet.
How long will they stay together? Will they win any more Super Bowls together? Let us know in the comments down below.
