Patrick Beverley Is Torching Chris Paul On ESPN

The Phoenix Suns got waxed by the Dallas Mavericks in Game 7 of the Western Conference Semi Finals in a game everyone turned off by halftime. It’s another early season playoff exit by Chris Paul who has plenty on his resume after turning 37 in the middle of the Mavs series. I think we’re all used to the talking heads roasting CP3 but ESPN had an early Christmas present for everyone. They brought Patrick Beverley on the set and he flamed CP3 about as bad as it gets.

Beverley had many insults for CP3 but none hit harder than calling him a “cone” when trying to guard other NBA players. It’s a must see clip:

“Ain’t nobody worried about Chris Paul and the Suns,” said Beverley, who was one of the pieces the Rockets used in a 2018 trade that landed them Paul from the Clippers. “Don’t get it twisted. He can’t guard. He can’t and everyone knows that… CP can’t guard anybody, man, everybody in the NBA know that,” he said, before comparing Paul to a practice cone.

“You know what you do with cones, in the summer time you got a cone, you make a move. What does the cone do? Nothing. He’s a cone. Everyone knows that, it’s just that y’all don’t want to accept that. Give him the Ben Simmons slander.”

Agree or disagree with the take, you can’t deny how funny this is. Comparing any player to a cone when it comes to their defensive ability is hilarious. Beverley absolutely made a strong impression on TV and put himself in the running for a future job in sports media.

Having said that, look… I’m a Patrick Beverley guy. Always have been. Always will be. I am one with the psychos. Plus, Beverley hates Westbrook just like I do so we also bond over this.

Is the CP3/Suns championship window closed? It’s a topic we recently just discussed on That’s Some Cheese. Honestly, it’s a fair question. It’s looking more and more likely that CP3 will never win a championship which will always give the haters the ammunition they need to speak out against the point god.
