I love Patrick Beverley. If I were an NBA player, I imagine I would be almost identical to Patrick Beverley. Anytime I used to play pick up basketball, I took it as a personal offense if someone scored on me. I might not score a point but the person I’m guarding sure as hell isn’t scoring either. I imagine me and Pat Bev would get along well. He also hates Russell Westbrook so we might even be best friends.
Recently, Beverley had a very interesting quote that has to be talked about. In a post by ESPN titled ‘‘It’s either hoop or you sell dope’: Patrick Beverley never forgets his humble beginnings’ Beverley talks about how he could have been a great drug dealer. It’s a very good read so I really recommend going through the entire post. It will give you an appreciation for Beverley that you may not have had before.
“I probably would’ve been the best drug dealer in the world.”
I can totally see this. Patrick Beverley could absolutely run the show for a huge mob that sells drugs. Beverley has all the key components you look for. He’s fearless and doesn’t take bullshit. He knows how to play the game. Some of the flops he has are just pure art. Beverley is the ultimate grinder who spent years just trying to get into the NBA. Pat Bev would have risen through the ranks quick.
There are not many guys like Beverley in the NBA. Draymond Green and Marcus Smart are really the only two players that come close. All I know is we need more of them in the NBA. More dudes that would be willing to throw hands when the time comes. What happened to the brawls we used to have in the NBA. Now it’s all chicken shit where players just want to leave every location after two years. The NBA needs more guys like Patrick Beverley.
