Pat McAfee Set To Join ESPN’s College Gameday

It really has been up to something szn for Pat McAfee.

Over the past two years or so, former Colts Punter Pat McAfee has been exploding on social media. His daily show, The Pat McAfee show, is among the more popular sports shows on YouTube, he has been absolutely killing it on commentary for WWE’s Smackdown, and he landed a massive deal with FanDuel. In the past, Pat McAfee has gone on ESPN shows like Get Up and the aforementioned College Gameday, and as it turns out, McAfee will be returning to the set on a full-time basis this year.

McAfee will be there this weekend in Austin, Texas for the Alabama-Texas tilt, one of our games of the week this week for the College Football slate. The former All-Pro punter was a breath of fresh air to the College Gameday set in the past, and he is sure to bring all the energy he is famously known for to college campuses all over the country this season. The commitment to ESPN begs the question, what does this mean for McAfee and the WWE?

It appears as if Pat McAfee will be stepping away from the WWE and joining ESPN and College Gameday instead for the coming season. He has been on commentary alongside Michael Cole working WWE’s Smackdown and has been crushing in the role, also working programs with wrestlers, most famously WrestleMania this year. I am sure the return of McAfee to WWE programming will result in a massive reaction. It will be interesting to see who WWE chooses to replace him for the next few months.

College Gameday just added a massive name and electric personality to their Saturday show, meaning that this season, Saturdays will sure to be can’t miss.
