AEW Dynamite Preview (9/7/22): MJF Returns to AEW Dynamite
AEW Dynamite is going to be an interesting show. There have been major issues in the company following CM Punk’s media scrum comments. There was a reported incident that took place following Punk’s comments in which Punk, Ace Steel, Kenny Omega, and the Young Bucks got into a physical altercation in the locker room. Furthermore, AEW has only announced three matches for the show thus far, so here’s what to expect heading into AEW Dynamite.
We Hear From MJF
We are set to hear from the returning MJF. MJF hadn’t been seen for months since his promo on AEW Dynamite. He returned in the casino ladder match and won, ultimately giving him a future shot at the AEW world title. He is likely going to have a lot to say with this segment. His bitter rival, CM Punk, is the current AEW world champion. Although there has been a lot of controversy following Punk, his future remains unknown. Whatever happens, MJF will have a lot to say, and it is going to be interesting to see how this all unfolds.
Best Friends & Orange Cassidy vs Death Triangle
Both of these teams fell short of capturing the AEW trios titles in the tournament. PAC is the current AEW All-Atlantic champion and beat Kip Sabian at All Out to retain it. Following the match, Tony Schiavone interviewed PAC but was interrupted by Orange Cassidy. It was clear that Cassidy wanted a shot at the title, but PAC wasn’t interested in giving him a shot and told him to “get in the back of the line.” The two teams met face-to-face later in the night and the challenge was laid. They’re now facing off on AEW Dynamite in what is going to be a grudge match. Both teams are looking for some momentum, so a win is crucial for both.
*ROH Pure Championship Match*
Daniel Garcia vs Wheeler Yuta (c)
Daniel Garcia has been having an internal battle. His mentor, Chris Jericho, and his idol, Bryan Danielson, have been feuding over the past couple of weeks. Furthermore, Jericho and Danielson are part of two groups that absolutely despise one another. Garcia is going to have to keep his mind clear if he wants to win the ROH Pure title. He is facing another really good young prospect in Wheeler Yuta.
These two met before at ROH Death Before Dishonor a couple of months ago. Yuta got the best of Garcia and retained his title, but this won’t be the same Garcia. In the time since, Garcia beat Bryan Danielson clean in a singles match. He also went toe-to-toe with Danielson in a best two-out-of-three falls match. Danielson did score the first victory in that match, ultimately choking out Garcia. While he did lose the match, he put up one hell of a fight. Garcia is going to be wrestling in front of his home crowd in Buffalo, New York. With the crowd in his favor, Garcia has all of the potential to win the Pure title on Dynamite.
More Matches to Come
While this is the only part of the show that AEW has announced, it has been rumored that Chris Jericho and Jon Moxley will appear as well. The Elite, along with multiple others have been suspended so AEW is going to work last minute to put together the show.
