Will Pat McAfee respond to the shade that Bill Simmons threw his way? It turns out the answer is yes. It just took about a month to do so.
The former Colts punter and ESPN host decided to rip Simmons for his failed Super Bowl LVIII parlay. More so the amount of people that tailed him on the bet.
“I think Bill Simmons, who has it all figured out, I think he had like 8,000 people riding alongside him,” McAfee said on The Pat McAfee Show. “That’s a huge number that did not hit. That’s really big. Really good, Bill. You still have it. I think we had 250,000 people or something like that. Keep running your mouth, Bill.”
If you don’t get where this is coming from, here you go.
At the end of the day, I’ll give the comeback a solid six out of ten. Mocking his audience number is fine, I guess. Not super creative but it’s acceptable. Could have been better but at least he finally responded.
Frankly, I think it’s more impressive that a guy who jerks off (if you know you know) to the NBA trade machine got 8,000 people to tail his bet. Are 8,000 people really that delusional? I just couldn’t imagine looking myself in the mirror tailing a Bill Simmons bet. Am I supposed to feel bad for those people or encourage them to jump? I think that right there is the better question. McAfee should have went down that avenue to find a better comeback.
