Norman Powell

The Portland Trail Blazers and Toronto Raptors have come to an agreement on a trade. Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the deal.

The Portland Trail Blazers just grabbed a bonafide three-point shooter. Powell has made 43.9% of his 269 attempts this year alone. Only two players have been more accurate Joe Ingles and Joe Harris.

With Portland being a three-point shooting team, it could be a good trade. However it comes at a hefty price with Gary Trent being traded.

Although, it might have been smart on the Blazers front office. With Gary Trent Jr. signing with Klutch Sports, there is no guarantee that Portland would have been able to resign Trent in the offseason.

In return, Portland is getting another guard/small forward who is averaging about 20 points on the season, and is good on defense.

Neither Hood nor Trent have shown the potential that we have seen from them in the past this season. Hood is coming off a torn Achilles and struggles to knock down shots. Gary Trent Jr takes a lot of threes but is not hitting at the consistent rate we saw in the bubble. Toronto is getting a young star in Trent.

With Portland looking to make a run for the title. The addition of Norman Powell is good for Portland. Powell will come in and be the starter for the Trail Blazers. The starting lineup now might look like this; Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum, Norman Powell, Robert Covington, and Enes Kanter.

This trade will move Derrick Jones Jr. to the bench, where you will now have Carmelo Anthony, Anfernee Simons, Nassir Little, and Jones.

The Blazers starting center Jusuf Nurkic is reportedly coming back in a week for the Blazers. When he comes back, Kanter will more than likely move to the bench.

With this move, the Portland Trail Blazers are more geared to win now.
