The sweepstakes for Aaron Gordon are finally over, Adrian Wojnarowski was first on the deal.
A lot of teams were in the sweepstakes for Gordon including Houston, Portland, Boston, and the Denver Nuggets. But Denver had more to offer. The deal includes Gary Harris, RJ Hampton, and a first-round pick.
Aaron Gordon had become one of the most frustrated players in the NBA this season and had requested a trade.
We will now see a frontcourt of Aaron Gordon and Nikola Jokic. A frontcourt that could be one of the most dominant frontcourts we have seen in years. Gordon is not an all-star but is still one of the best power forwards in the league.
For most of this season, the Denver Nuggets have been disappointing due to the poise they had showed from the last two years. Jokic leads the team in every statistical category, and has proved himself to be the best center in the NBA.
Early in the season, Murray and Porter Jr. both struggled. Gordon will add another weapon. The lineup for Denver will look something like this: Jamal Murray, Will Barton, Michael Porter Jr, Aaron Gordon, and Nikola Jokic. That lineup looks dominant all around on paper, with a lot to offer. Although Barton may be better off coming off the bench, he has started 37 of 41 games for Denver this season.
Gordon will join a team that for the most part doesn’t have a stretch four big. This season he is shooting 37.5% from beyond the arc.
Are the Nuggets now a threat to win the championship with the addition of Gordon?
