Craig Conroy is the new general manager in Calgary and major changes could be on the way. Apparently, Elias Lindholm isn’t the only Flame that could be available on the trade market this Summer. Noah Hanifin is not willing to extend his contract with the Flames and a trade is most likely on the horizon.

All signs point to defenseman Noah Hanifin not wanting to extend with the Flames, so that situation is likely headed for a trade. He’s got one year left on his deal at a $4.95 million AAV. Obviously, new Flames GM Craig Conroy is juggling a lot with Elias Lindholm, Mikael Backlund and Tyler Toffoli among other players entering the last year of their deals and the Flames needing answers.
Hanifin, 26, is in the final year of his contract and is set to earn an AAV of $4.95 million. The former 5th overall pick in 2015 tallied 38 points this past season. The numbers the year prior were even better as Hanifan notched a career high 48 points. Hanifin skates well and is an above average defenseman on both sides of the ice. Any team needing a left shot defenseman will likely look into Hanifin.
Given the lackluster free agent class this Summer, teams may become aggressive in the pursuit of Hanifan. Dmitry Orlov, Ryan Graves, Carson Soucy, and Scott Mayfield is basically your free agent class this year…
Yeah… not great, huh?
