There is no reason in this world why the Bruins should trade Linus Ullmark

In the midst of a historic season, the Bruins should not trade Linus Ullmark

Recently on a Boston sports show, Mike Felger and Adam Jones brought up an extremely controversial statement: Why the Bruins should trade their star goaltender in Linus Ullmark.

To me, this was a downright stupid comment. There is no reason on this earth why the Bruins should trade their 29-year-old goaltender. There should be no reason to trade Jeremy Swayman, either.

The Boston Bruins have the best goalie tandem in the NHL. There is not another team with better combined goaltending this year than Boston and that’s been their key to success. But as mentioned before, Jones and Felger decided to run their mouths and split them up.

First off, Ullmark has been the best goaltender this year, and it isn’t even close. Ullmark has a GAA of 1.86, save percentage of .938, two shutouts and 30 wins. He has been a brick wall, and that’s an understatement. He will win the Vezina Trophy this year by a landslide.

Ullmark also is under contract until the 2025-26 season. He is being paid $5 million a year until 2025, where he gets a pay cut to $3.5 million. That is a steal. Why wouldn’t you want the best goaltender in the league under a cheap contract for two more fresh seasons? Ask Jones and Felger they would be fumbling over their words, thinking of why they should trade Ullmark then.

As mentioned in the previous article, come playoff time, it is every team’s dream to have a goalie duo like Ullmark and Swayman.

When you have two goalies to rely on during the playoffs, it makes winning so much easier. What if one goalie gets hurt? You have another elite talent to throw in. Boom, it’s as easy as that.

I mention this point because we have seen loads of backup goalies coming into the playoffs after their starter was hurt. You must have a safety net goalie in the NHL. I pray that the Bruins don’t shoot themselves in the foot before the deadline. It would plummet their chances at a cup.

Please Don Sweeney, please, you have been so good at building this team this season. Don’t screw it up by trading Ullmark. You already had a huge trade with the Washington Capitals. Keep the momentum going.
