During a historic Bruins season, a Boston Sports Radio host thinks they should trade Ullmark
During their recent addition of Boston Sports Tonight, hosts Adam Jones and Mike Felger made a very controversial comment saying they would trade Linus Ullmark before the NHL’s upcoming trade deadline, via NBC Sports Boston.
“I’m looking at it, I’m paying attention to it. I don’t think Ullmark is a slam dunk,” Jones said. “I don’t think it’s a bad thing for the Bruins.”
Ullmark has been one of the best goaltenders in the league this year. He’s having a better statistical season than legendary Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas in his 2008-09 Vezina Trophy season and Jones thinks they should trade him?
Thomas put up 2.10 goals against average, a .933 save percentage, five shutouts and 36 wins. As of right now, Ullmark has a GAA of 1.88, save percentage of .937, two shutouts and 29 wins.
That is honestly ridiculous to trade Ullmark at this point of the season. He has stood on his head the entire way and is the backbone of this incredible Bruins team. Ullmark is under contract until he becomes a free agent before the 2025-2026 season. He is carrying a cap hit of $5 million until his contract expires.
As playoffs come around, having an amazing goalie tandem of Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman would be perfect for the Bruins. Having that depth as they push towards the end of the season is what every team needs. Swayman has also posted great statistics this season, but with him being only 24 years old, his best years are ahead of him. Why break apart Swayman and Ullmark when they’re only getting better?
