Nick Wright’s Tattoo Backfired Quickly

It seems like every season somebody goes viral for having their bold sports prediction tattooed somewhere on their body. This usually never ends well for the person with the tattoo and provides the internet with plenty of memes. For this NFL season, Nick Wright’s tattoo will likely be the meme that he will have a hard time living down.

Predicting that your team will win the Super Bowl is one thing, but predicting a perfect 20-0 season is a much different level of confidence.

In the entire existence of the NFL, the 1972 Dolphins were the only team to ever achieve the perfect season. On top of this, Patrick Mahomes arguably has the weakest receiver room of his career this season.

Despite this, Wright truly believed in the Chiefs and doubled down by getting “Never a Doubt” tattooed on his forearm.

As many people watched, the Detroit Lions won their first season opener since 2017 against the Chiefs Thursday. News broke earlier this week that Travis Kelce got injured in practice and was listed as questionable–he did not play. Star defensive tackle Chris Jones watched the game from a suite amidst his contract holdout. Nick Wright seemed unphased, however.

“The reason I don’t want Travis Kelce to play is because I want the Chiefs to send a message to the entire NFL,” Wright said. “I want, without the best defensive player in the sport, Chris Jones, without the best tight end ever who is also the biggest weapon in the sport against a trendy Super Bowl pick, the frisky Detroit Lions for the Chiefs to lay the smackdown on ’em without two of their three best players.”

Mahomes seemed to miss Kelce, as some of the receivers had an off night. Justyn Ross barely saw the field and Kadarius Toney was one of the main factors in the Chiefs’ loss. Although Kansas City won’t finish perfectly, they still have a decent shot at winning the Super Bowl.
