The New York Knicks have been in the middle of a rebuild for quite some time. Could they be getting better? Let’s take a look at their season preview:

Key Additions: Obi Toppin, Nerlens Noel, Austin Rivers, Alec Burks, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Immanuel Quickley

These players will provide good production for the New York Knicks. The surprising one here being Nerlens Noel. He had the choice to go to a contending team but choose to go to New York.

Austin Rivers wants to be close to his dad, but it’s best if he doesn’t play for his dad.

But the biggest addition here is Obi Toppin. He is going to be a stud in New York and will be fun to watch. He fits in New York because he’s athletic and can be the main scoring option.

Key Losses: Maurice Harkless, Bobby Portis, Taj Gibson

Harkless and Portis are the ones that hurt the Knicks the most. Harkless is a good and 3 and D player as well as a good chemistry guy. While Portis was the backup center, he scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. Gibson is an aging veteran that can easily be replaced.

Projected Starting Rotation: Elfrid Payton, RJ Barrett, Reggie Bullock, Julius Randall, and Mitchell Robinson

New York returns the same starting rotation as last year. They have a better head coach in Tom Thibodeau. As well as a better bench with Rivers, Toppin and Quickley.

Season Outlook:

The Knicks have a pretty good roster, but is it good enough to get back in the playoffs? Is Thibodeau good enough to get the Knicks to the next level? Will Toppin be in the race for Rookie of the Year? Will he crack the starting rotation.

Projection for the Knicks:

28-44
