New York Giants 2018 NFL Draft War Room

New York Giants

New York Giants
Odell Beckham was drafted in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the New York Giants (William Perlman/The Star-Ledger)

The New York Giants are in an odd spot to kick off the season. What do the Giants do with Odell Beckham? What do the Giants do with Davis Webb? What do the Giants do with Eli Manning? All that we know is general manager Dave Gettleman is looking for a hall of famer. The problem is we don’t really know much besides that. Is it quarterback or do they have faith in Eli for another go around? Here we go, what can we expect from the New York Giants during the 2018 NFL Draft?

Holding the second pick in the draft is putting the Giants in a pickle. The Giants should take a quarterback but it looks like they are beholden to Eli Manning for no apparent reason. It looks like the Giants have narrowed it down to Bradley Chubb or Saquon Barkley if the Giants don’t go QB. My guess is that the Giants are leaning towards Chubb but I could totally be wrong. Only for the sole fact that Jason Pierre-Paul might have been traded for a reason. Gettleman also loves defensive lineman. Remember when he drafted Vernon Butler in the first round while already having Star Lotulelei and Kawaan Short on the roster in Carolina? Chubb is a fantastic player and immediately becomes their best edge rusher.

In round two, New York needs offensive line help. Quenton Nelson would be perfect for them if they go that route in round one. Nate Solder at least fills the need at left tackle. The problem is their line might actually be worse now that Weston Richburg and Justin Pugh are out of town. Austin Corbett of Nevada may be the perfect fit. Corbett could shift to right tackle when Erik Flowers becomes a disaster but this guy could be a fantastic guard. Joel Bitonio set the world on fire as a former Nevada product and Corbett could do the same.

Davis Webb Hopes To Convince Giants He Should Be Successor To Eli Manning

If the Giants don’t go, quarterback, it could mean that Pat Shurmur really likes Davis Webb. For all you lunatics that love Baker Mayfield, you should watch the 2013 Holiday Bowl. Webb helped lead Texas Tech to a 37-23 win over Arizona State where he threw for 403 yards and 4 touchdowns. Do you know what Baker Mayfield was doing during that game? Sitting on the bench behind Webb who is miles ahead of Mayfield both on and off the field.
