DJ Drama assembled the Avengers this New Music Friday to feature on his latest album I’m Really Like That. The features include:
This album was very good. It has a nice variety of style of raps and production that compliment the rappers very well. This album needs to be one of the first listens this Friday, especially songs such as “FMFU” with Wayne, Roddy Ricch, and Gucci Mane, “Free Game” with Uzi and 42 Dugg, “Mockingbird Valley” with Jack Harlow.
I personally am not a big fan of Polo G, however, his release this Friday I somewhat enjoyed. It was a faster pace and didn’t involve a piano beat, therefore, it is unique for this artist. The production definitely carried this song and would only give it a listen if prior you are already a fan of Polo G.
This trio definitely could’ve came harder this New Music Friday than a song like this. For starters, the chorus is very repetitive which can be finely lined with being regarded as catchy, however, it was just too much and cramped the verses. I am a fan of the production and each artist brought a decent performance for their respective verses. But again, there was just so much potential with this lineup and they settled in my opinion.
This duo is the same energy I was expecting from the trio above. The chorus didn’t cramp the song and blended nicely with the two artists. “Hotboy” is a pretty good song and worth a listen this Friday if you are a fan of either of these artists.
“Same Friends” sounds like Kidz Bop wrote, produced, and sang the song. It is just very bland. I would avoid this song this Friday, unless you are a fan of that kind of music.
I felt that the production and Lloyd Banks flow matched extremely well this song. It was defintely one of the better listens this Friday and I would reccomend giving this a listen even if you haven’t heard this artist. It is a bit slower pace, so if you are not a fan of that pace this is probably not for you.
**EDITOR* since the previous New Music Friday with Tyler, The Creator has not been posted, could y’all plug that URL into the embed below. Thanks in advance!*
I am very appreciative of an artist attempting to sound different on their tracks. Before this, I thought there was no way his voice could get worse and then the very first song, Luh Tyler sounded like he was straining for his life to get the bars out.
I will admit, this album has a lot of moments where he doesn’t drag out his final word in the bar and, it was very refreshing to hear. Having a nice mesh of those flows will be beneficial to him and I am glad he has not just stuck to doing that every song.
