Apple Releases New Sports App “Apple Sports”

As technology and sports media continue to increase, tech powerhouse Apple has released a sports app to compete in the world of social media. Apple Sports was launched today, February 21st, 2024. This sports app is similar to other sports apps but streaming live games and getting scores is incredibly fast and fluent. This release was first reported by Ben Axelrod at Awful Announcing,

Apple is a major competitor in every aspect of technology and media adds another trick into its bag. With Apple News, Apple TV, and Apple Music being so dominant and profitable why not add a sports media app? Apple techs who know every aspect of technology have made an app that can deliver sports updates faster than any other app can. This sports app covers major leagues like, the: NBA, MLS, NCAA Basketball, NHL, and Premier League. Apple is also planning on adding the NFL, MLB, and WNBA. Apple is also a rights holder of Major League Soccer and offers a package to Apple TV+ users, this directly correlates with the app, and it gives a great boost to Apple Sports race to the top of the pyramid. This all sounds awesome and like an amazing app already, but it is not all sunshine and rainbows…

This free-to-use, fast, and convenient app is not as perfect as it sounds. Apple Sports is missing out on some major sports. Their new app does not contain, motorsports, different Olympic sports, Tennis, almost all college sports other than basketball, and any fantasy sports options. These are some major sports being left out of the app. I believe this will hinder Apple Sports’ success, as other powerhouse apps cover almost every sport. As this app just launched we won’t know how good the UI is and if there are any bugs in the app till it is out for a little longer. This app has all the hype as it was just released, but will it be able to keep up with superior sports apps? I think it will stay in the middle ladder of the sports world as there are too many dominating apps in the game already.
