The NCAA Wrestling Championships are right around the corner and I am previewing all the weights. I already previewed the 125 and 133-pound weight classes. The NCAA Wrestling 141 pound preview is here!
If everything goes according to seeds, we would get a Big Ten finals rematch with Jaydin Eireman and Nick Lee squaring off as the one and two seeds. Eireman is transfer into the Hawkeyes who is a three-time All-American from his time at Mizzou.
Lee had a great takedown within the first minute, but with a quick escape from the Hawkeyes and a takedown and ride out. The time advantage ended up being crucial and ended up being crucial.
Tariq Wilson’s record alone should prove he wouldn’t be a huge upset, but he slides in at the 4 seed. The North Carolina State wrestler has placed at the big tournament before. He earned 3rd place in the 2018 championships in his first year of competition after coming in-unseeded.
The won the ACC Championships this year and has hit his grove. Sebastian Rivera is the 3 seed who can also a three time NCAA All American.
Real Woods from Stanford was granted eligibility for the tournament despite not wrestling the required 6 matches in the regular season. Don’t be surprised if he upsets the 12th seeded Grant Willits. Drew Matin kept it close with Rivera for most of their match in January. He could be a name to watch in the first round.
Lee might have lost the Big Ten Finals, but it might have kept him on the better side of the bracket in St. Louis. I think Tariq Wilson upsets Eireman and will get a chance to wrestle on center stage.
I got Lee and Wilson in the finals where Wilson wins by decision, It will be a high-scoring bout with two offensive-oriented wrestlers. He would add to the recent success of the North Carolina State program. Rivera won’t be an easy task for Lee, the two went to overtime in the semi-finals the weekend prior.
