The most exciting to watch in the Premier League this season

For fans of the beautiful game, the Premier League is hard to ignore. Sure, Major League Soccer clubs like Inter Miami are followed and European behemoths like Real Madrid have an American fanbase, but English football’s top flight is the main attraction on this side of the pond. In fact, all around the world, football fans watch the biggest league on a weekly basis.

One of the main reasons behind the Premier League’s appeal is undoubtedly due to the world-class players who ply their trade in the competition. Throughout the history of it, the Premier League has always had some iconic stars fans adore watching. For instance, more senior fans will remember the likes of Eric Cantona and Thierry Henry turning it on for Manchester United and Arsenal respectively, while Liverpool had Luis Suarez not so long ago and Chelsea’s devastating attack under Jose Mourinho featured the likes of Arjen Robben and Didier Drogba. The list goes on and on.

Today, the league is still filled with top performers who are capable of winning matches on their own. Given the financial muscle of Premier League sides these days, many of the competition’s finest professionals don’t necessarily just play for the biggest clubs either. As the richest league around, there is more of a spread than ever before, with some traditionally smaller clubs now being able to attract some truly brilliant players.

So, with the Premier League season shaping up nicely and the league’s contingent of star players continuing to perform to a high level on an impressively consistent basis, below is a look at some of the best players to watch this season.

Alexander Isak is Newcastle’s goal-getter

As one of the league’s finest strikers right now, Alexander Isak is catching the eye of many top European clubs. While Erling Haaland also deserves a mention, the Toon Army’s Swedish striker is having a better season than Manchester City’s striker. Sure, Haaland will probably top the rankings when it comes to goals scored at the end of the season, but Isak’s all-round performances have been far better so far. The former Real Sociedad man doesn’t appear to have a weakness in his game either, with his gangly frame making him awkward to go up against, he is very quick, he has undoubted skill, and his knack for scoring goals makes him a threat almost anywhere around the opposition’s box. Newcastle will almost certainly have their resolve tested in the near future, given Isak’s five-star performances this season, and while they have an ambitious project of their own, Isak might fancy jumping ship and challenging for trophies now instead of waiting for his current club to deliver. One thing’s for sure, he’s a player many top sides in Europe could do with.

Bryan Mbeumo is Brentford’s main man

Although many international fans probably don’t set some time aside to watch Brentford, they really should given Bryan Mbeumo’s undoubted quality. Ever since the club managed to snap the Frenchman up from Troyes during their Championship days, his influence has been evident. Mbuemo can play pretty much anywhere across the frontline, although most of his goalscoring exploits come from the right side of the pitch where he can cut in and unleash some devastating efforts at goal. When Brentford are in the mood, Mbeumo is usually leading the charge, with the attacker being one of the biggest creators in the league right now. He is also incredibly accurate when it comes to his shooting ability, with his shot accuracy of 62% being the best in the entire league at the time of writing. The Bees will almost certainly struggle to keep hold of their star man, with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool being linked with signing him. For now, though, Brentford fans can enjoy witnessing a player who has developed massively under the tutelage of Thomas Frank.

Mohamed Salah is showing no signs of slowing down

Despite being at the age of 32 these days, Mohamed Salah continues to impress. In fact, many footballers of his age experience a notable drop-off in terms of their performances, but Salah appears to have gone up a level under new Reds manager, Arne Slot. The Egyptian is one of the main reasons why many fans are backing Liverpool for the title when it comes to football betting, with some fans going one step further by also backing Salah’s side for a Champions League win given the enticing odds of 4/1. It could easily happen, especially if Liverpool manage to keep Salah fit throughout the season. At the time of writing, Liverpool’s talisman is the top scorer in the league, he is showing no signs of slowing down, and with it seemingly being his last season at the club, he seems desperate to depart Anfield with a trophy or two to remember.

Cole Palmer is Chelsea’s best player

Chelsea are one of the league’s surprise packages this season, although a team containing Cole Palmer is always in with a chance of doing well. The England international is 22 years old and already knows how to rise to the occasion when the Blues need a bit of magic to get them over the line. Last season, Palmer scored 22 goals and recorded 11 assists in a Chelsea side that flattered to deceive at times. Now, with Enzo Maresca at the helm, Palmer appears to be in the mood once again. The PFA Young Player of the Year has absolutely no fear, he clearly loves to entertain, and he’s becoming one of world football’s biggest stars.

Other players to watch this season includes Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Phil Foden (Manchester City), Amad Diallo (Manchester United), Bruno Guimarães (Newcastle United), Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City), Jarrod Bowen (West Ham United), Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest), Antoine Semenyo (Bournemouth), Kaoru Mitoma (Brighton), Jean-Philippe Mateta (Crystal Palace), Liam Delap (Ipswich Town), and James Maddison (Tottenham).
