Miles Sanders Is An Unreliable Fantasy RB In 2021
I started thinking about this after our fantasy football show called Ballz Deep. In our 2nd episode, we were talking about rookie RBs for the upcoming year. Kenneth Gainwell was brought up and his fantasy value. While Gainwell’s fantasy value might not be prevalent this year, him being drafted by the Eagles says a lot about the confidence in Sanders. As Jeremy stated in the fantasy show, Kenneth Gainwell is a better pass-catcher than Sanders and it should be expected that Miles won’t be there long-term. Throw on the fact that the Eagles brought in Kerryon Johnson and still kept Boston Scott says a lot about the RB room. There might be a time where the Eagles won’t use Miles Sanders if he underperforms.
Miles Sanders was expected to make a huge jump for fantasy football in 2020. Jordan Howard was gone and Miles Sanders was going to be the lead back. However, he underwhelmed during the season. Now, his window to become a prominent fantasy RB seems to be gone, at least with the Eagles it is. There’s no way Sanders has a great fantasy season this year and I would jump ship on him. If you’re in a dynasty league, I would be desperately trying to trade him for a bag of chips.
All in all, Miles Sanders might be close to undraftable. As George W. Bush said once “Fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can’t get fooled again.” I won’t be fooled again. I thought Miles Sanders might have been good last year for fantasy and that just wasn’t true. He was 23rd for total fantasy points and 20th in average for fantasy points per game for all RBs last year. That’s also for PPR (points-per-reception) which he should have excelled at since he’s thought of more of a receiving back. If Sanders is on the board, it’s in my expert opinion (self-proclaimed expert) to tell you to pass over him. If you have him in dynasty, good luck, and hope you trade him to someone who’s an idiot.
