By now a five-year-old has figured out that the running back position has been completely devalued in the NFL. Are we supposed to feel bad for players that play the running back position? Maybe… Nevertheless, we already know what’s going to happen. A bunch of players that signed up to play running back are now complaining about it. Miles Sanders has entered the chat.
VIA The Rich Eisen Show:
“You want to franchise tag and create a certain market for running backs just because you have this way of thinking that they only last three or four years,” Sanders said. “I think it’s B.S., honestly. Almost every running back is underpaid right now. I don’t know what it’s gonna take. That’s a topic that needs to be brought up a little more because it sucks to be a running back right now, honestly.”
I’m not saying Sanders is wrong but I’m not really sure he should be the one talking about this. Sanders, 26, just cashed in on a four year deal with Carolina that will pay him pretty handsomely. Sanders made a hell of a lot more money than several running backs who are better than he is. We’re talking about a running back that’s rushed for over 1,000 yards just once in his NFL career. Are we positive he’s the guy that should be complaining? Food for thought.
Sanders will enter the 2023 NFL Season as the Panthers’ starting running back and will likely have a bigger workload than he ever had in Philadelphia. It’s time to prove the former Penn State product is even worth the cap he’s currently carrying.
