There are not many athletes more hated in the city of Philadelphia than Jimmy Butler. This summer, Butler bounced from Philly to sign with the mediocre Miami Heat. Apparently, Butler fell in love with the Heat after playing Dominoes in Miami. Yeah, he’s a weird guy. Mike Scott wants the fans to lead into the hatred and encourages them to boo Butler.
It sounds like Mike Scott likes Butler. I’m not sure how well this take goes over if Butler doesn’t even hate the guy. I have to be honest, does anyone take Mike Scott seriously? I can’t even believe the 76ers re-signed him. Scott, 31, averaged 7.8 points on 40 percent shooting in 2018. Every time I watched a 76er game, it felt like Scott missed every shot. The Philly fans are going to boo Jimmy Butler. It sure as hell isn’t going to be because Mike Scott told them to. These are the same fans that threw batteries at Santa.
It’s put up or shut up time for the 76ers. After signing Al Horford to a mega deal, the time to win is now. It will be fascinating to see how Josh Richardson pans out for this team. I’m not sure he’s as much of a downgrade and people may think.
