Dallas Cowboys legend Michael Irvin could replace Max Kellerman on ESPN’s First Take, as first reported by Outkick’s Bobby Burack.
The speculation surrounding Irvin and First Take comes on the heels of Kellerman leaving the show after a five-year stint. According to Front Office Sports, the 48-year-old is expected to leave for his own tv show with the network and could also join the ESPN morning show “Keyshawn, JWill & Zubin” as Zubin Mehenti has missed time due to problems with his health.
With Kellerman out of the picture, ESPN will be rotating guest commentators to spar with Stephen A. Smith. Irvin appears to be on the shortlist with Marcus Spears, Keyshawn Johnson and Jay Williams also offering their services on the popular ESPN talk show.
A source close to Front Office Sports said this regarding the current First Take situation:
“It’s going to be Stephen A. vs. the world.”

Irvin has been an analyst for the NFL Network since 2009. First Take host Molly Qerim has gone insofar as to call Irvin Smith’s “greatest rival,” according to FOS. The pair of loud pundits do have a history and have erupted into screaming matches when talking about the Dallas Cowboys. With the NFL season fast approaching and the Cowboys in full chaos mode per usual, ESPN is certainly looking to take advantage of Irvin and Smith’s rivalry.
