The footballing world rumor mill has long been expecting Kylian Mbappé to push for a move to Real Madrid. The time may have arrived with the 22-year-old superstar allegedly making it clear to the Parisian club’s brass that he wants to join his childhood dream club this summer or the next. With the transfer window closing at the end of the month, Real Madrid has offered €160 million for the French international, but PSG has not budged.
PSG sporting director, Leonardo, has conceded that Mbappé wants to leave for the Spanish giants but insists that the club will work hard to extend the young superstar. Still, if he wants to leave, it will be allowed, for the right price, of course.
“Kylian Mbappé wants to join Real Madrid and we will not hold him back. We said no to Madrid’s first offer, but if our conditions are met, we’ll see. We will not hold anyone against his will. If Mbappé wants to join Real Madrid, we’ll allow it, but on our conditions. Kylian always promised us that he will not leave for free.”

Leonardo has been quoted as saying that the plan is to make sure the club’s No. 7 understands that he is the focal point and they want to build around him.
“We made two important offers to Mbappé: one for the top players in the squad two months ago and one above these players very recently. We want to prove to him that he is an important player, at the center of the project, but not above the project.”

Still, the club’s director is willing to sell the Frenchman for the right price, and it appears that €160 million is not enough to necessitate a move.
“Real Madrid official offer is very far from what we want for Kyilian. Yes, it’s around €160m. It’s less than what we paid for him in 2017.”

The relationship between PSG and Real Madrid appears sour, with Leonardo going as far as to call out the club’s potentially malevolent tactics.
“It seems like a strategy to try to get a NO from us, to show that they have tried everything and to wait for a year to get Mbappé for free. Kylian always promised he wouldn’t leave for free.”
VIA Fabrizio Romano/Twitter
“Real Madrid’s strategy is obvious. Making an offer 7 days before the end of the window to prove to Kylian that they want him then get him next year for free. It’s disrespectful. They have been doing it for 2 years.”

Despite Real’s offer, Leonardo and the club appear keen on keeping Mbappé in Paris for one more season. Will the deal be accepted before the Aug. 31 deadline? Who knows. But we could potentially see a Harry Kane-esque holdout from the French superstar.
