This cornerback class is actually filled with some premium talent, and Maxwell Hairston is very much part of that mix. Just how good is the Kentucky cornerback? That’s what we’re here to talk about (duh), so let’s jump right into the 2025 NFL Draft profile here!
NFL Draft Stock Report: Senior Bowl (1), (2), (3)
Hairston, 21, was a three star recruit coming out of the state of Michigan. The West Bloomfield, Michigan, native spent all four years at Kentucky. The 2021 season was spent redshirting. In the 2022 season, he was mostly a reserve. The 2023 and 2024 seasons are the ones we’re really looking at here.
The Wildcats cornerback really popped as a redshirt sophomore when he made Second-team All-SEC. The stat line here includes six pass breakups and five picks with two of them being returned for scores. He finished up with one pick that was also returned for a score but he missed five games with an upper body injury that limited his production.
The Kentucky product was actually the fastest player, regardless of position, at the Combine. The play speed was there, too during the on-field stuff. He was probably the best workout in all of the corners with incredible leaping numbers as well. Not that I was overly shocked because he looked great during the Senior Bowl too. Hairston checks in at 5-foot-11, 183, with 31 inch arms. He’s not just some dinky slot guy. He’s a real outside corner with length. The athletic prowess is there. He has recovery speed with a burst. Tackling might be a bit of an issue. Play strength might also be a concern. Other than that, Hairston checks a lot of boxes.
I really like this player. I have a round two grade on Maxwell Hairston. He should become a solid starting cornerback for someone. I’m just not sure you’re getting an elite player here, but a solid contributor with speed to match up with.
