Max Fried Free Agency: Bidding War Expected Between These Two Teams?

Max Fried is in high demand on the free agent market this Winter and rightfully so. The left-handed starter represents one of the safest buys on the pitching market for a number of different reasons. I’m sure the Braves would love to keep Fried but it sure looks like a bidding war is brewing that will ultimately lead to him leaving Atlanta.

Maybe just maybe the Red Sox are serious about spending again. They appear to be one of the strongest suitors for Fried. If they want to land him, it’s looking like they will have to fight off their division rivals in New York. The Fried sweepstakes appear to be down to the Yankees and Red Sox.

“The Red Sox and Yankees are believed to be seeking a left-handed starter, which could ultimately mean a bidding war between the rivals for Max Fried,” Feinsand wrote.”

The two teams are fighting for Juan Soto too, which likely will be the first domino to get settled. Once Soto signs, does the team who loses out panic and make a Godfather offer to Fried? That could be the scenario we see happen. OR maybe Fried follows Soto wherever he decides to sign.

The interest by the Yankees makes sense. Their ballpark is designed with that jetstream in right field. Lefty talent is imperative there. So is lefty run prevention talent.

The Red Sox could have the advantage in the recruiting aspect.
